I was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare and complex congenital heart defect. At just two years old, I underwent open-heart surgery, and from an early age I was told by doctors to avoid strenuous exercise.
As I grew older, those limitations followed me into adulthood. I struggled with conception, and on top of that, developed leaky heart valves — a long-term complication commonly experienced by Tetralogy of Fallot patients. I am now due for my second open-heart surgery.
When it came to starting a family, I was told my only option was IVF. As always, I questioned the limits placed on me and chose to take responsibility for my own health.
I turned to my education and knowledge of nutrition, listened closely to my body, and followed a nutritional ketosis approach. Against all expectations, I conceived naturally — not once, but twice.
Today, I am a proud mum of two.
The second child was a miracle no one expected.
